Last night, I had a small party/get-to-gether for ladies only. We ate, drink, dance, and played games. We had lots of fun. I received several great presents including money. Today, I'm spending time with the family, after engaging in my favorite past-time activity. We're going out to eat at my favorite restaurant-Longhorn's and then shopping. My husband surprised me this morning with a Coach purse. Tonight, I may go out with some friends to further celebrate. It's been a great Birthday. I'm taking 3 classes, so I can graduate in May 2008. My goal for this semester is not to procrastinate, although it seems that I do my best work under stress and at the last minute. What's your goal? If you don't have one, set one and see if you accomplish it. Always remember "You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you". We're excited it's had its ups and downs, more ups then downs but we're still together. Marriage is what you make out of it. A lot of people say marriage requires work, which it does but most of all it requires patience, understanding, trust, faith, endurance, and compromise. To be married is a good thing, which the Bible says. So, today we celebrate our good thing, 9 years of marriage. This song by Toni Tony Tone is very dear to me and I love to hear it especially on my anniversary. So take time to listen to it and enjoy.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shaun2007.blogspot.com/2007/08/toni-tony-tone-anniversary_29.html' title='Toni! It was in high school. I attended and graduated from G.W. Carver. During my Junior Year, I enrolled in an Accounting I class. My instructor was Mrs. Trimble. She taught me the basics of accounting. It seemed to come naturally to me and I really enjoyed it. So I decided to enroll in Accounting II the following year. I passed both classes with an "A" and decided that I would major in Accounting in college.

Right after high school in 1994, I started Troy State University in Montgomery (TSUM). While at TSUM, I took several accounting courses and continued to make A's & B's, which definitely confirmed that I wanted to be an accountant. Moreover, I enjoyed it. The only problem was deciding what type of accountant I wanted to be and in what sector. I knew that I didn't want to deal with cost accounting, but I wasn't sure about auditing, tax, or government. At the time, I was employed with the State of Alabama and decided to register for the Account Clerk test, which led to me enter into Governmental Accounting in 1998. Every since, I have been working with governmental accounting. I probably will retire from the state in the next 15 years and pursue governmental accounting or auditing at the Federal level in Washington. I'm not sure at this particular time whether or not I will sit for the CPA or CGFM. I probably will within a year or two after I graduate from the master of accountancy program. I may even pursue my doctorate in public administration. As for now, I will continue to focus on completing my master's and spending time with my family and ensuring my daughters are obtaining the education and knowledge they need to continue to prosper.

Will you choose accounting as your major? Hopefully so, with the world becoming more focused on accountability, colleges have seen an increase in enrollment for accounting. In fact, a lot of non-accounting undergraduates are obtaining their master's in accounting. Why? Sarbanes-Oxley has added more responsibilities to companies to ensure their accounting records reflect the economic realities of the firm, which means additional accountants and auditors are needed. If you aren't sure about majoring in accounting then take a basic accounting class which most business majors have to anyway, and see if it's something you would like to explore further. There are may areas in which you can work such as: government, auditing, tax, cost, financial, international, and forensic accounting. Our love will survive and will forever show through our kids.

To my husband, I say thanks for continuing to be by my side as I face another journey in my life in pursuing my master's degree, hopefully by Spring 2008 I will have completed it and we'll decide on our next journey.

I love you

You Can Do All Things

Currently, I'm in my 2nd semester as a graduate student at Alabama State University. I'm pursuing a Master's of Accountancy Degree. I obtained my undergraduate degree at Troy State University in Montgomery, AL in 1998 in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.

I am currently employed full-time with Alabama Department of Public Safety as a Senior Accountant. I have been employed with ALDPS for the last 9 years where I have been blessed with promotion after promotion starting in 1998 as an Account Clerk, then promoted to Accountant in March 2000, followed by Staff Accountant in October 2000, and in February 2005 was promoted to Senior Accountant. Hopefully, before the year is out, I will be promoted to Accounting Manager since I took the exam this past April.

I'm a wife and mother of 3 beautiful daughters of whom I love very much. Besides trying to advance myself in all areas to have a brighter and better future I do all I do for my daughters' future as well. I want my daughters to know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Phil 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, has always been one of my favorite bible verses and is my motto throughout life. God has given us the power to do all things as long as we do it in accordance with his word.

A lot of people wonder how I can juggle being a wife, mother, full-time career women, and full-time graduate study while maintaining a 4.0 GPA; I say it's not me. IT'S ALL THROUGH GOD, HIS GRACE & MERCY AND HIS UNDENIABLE FAVOR UPON ME AND MY LIFE. Also, my family and friends are a great help and encouragement. I look forward to not only prosperity but posterity.

Remember, you too can do all things.

My 1st Blog

Tonight, I created my 1st blog page.

It was very easy. I attended the album release party in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend, it was awesome. R Kelly performed songs from this CD and from his old CD. He also song with Nelly and Ciara. Jermaine Dupree was there also, it was great.

Well, this was my first blog. It's time to go bed, get ready to go to work on tomorrow and start on my first writing assignment for Business Communications class due Thursday.
